Meet our Board of Directors

Centurion uses an independent, outside board of directors to assist and guide our management team; an approach unique to privately controlled insurance brokerage firms.  We feel the perspectives of outside, accomplished business professionals, combined with our rigorous training, customer service team approach, and in-depth market knowledge, provide Centurion with a healthy balance of insurance savvy and “real world” exposure necessary to deliver the Centurion difference.

Joseph F. Bonasera, QPA

Joe has thirty six years of experience in the employee benefits industry.  He is a registered representative of the National Association of Securities Dealers, a Qualified Plan Administrator with ASPPA, and a Registered Investment Advisor.

Joe is one of Centurion’s Vice Presidents, the President of Summit Financial Corporation and is responsible for the Pension Division of Centurion.  Joe graduated with a BA from Bowdoin College, earned his MBA from Northeastern University, and his MST from Bentley College.   He is very active in community affairs, and lives in Winchester, Massachusetts with his wife.

Peter L. Christie – Treasurer

Peter is a long term resident of the Upper Valley and has served on Centurion’s Board since 1989.  Peter is a graduate of Amherst College and The Stanford Graduate School of Business.   Following college, Peter was a Supply Officer in the US Navy serving on submarines.  He is recently retired after a long career with several New England companies as Chief Financial Officer of Creare Inc., and Verax Corporation.  His most recent position was Vice President of Finance at Fluent Inc., the world’s leading software developer of fluid mechanics.

In addition to his business interests, Peter serves on several non profit boards including the Hanover Improvement Society and as Chairman of The Aloha Foundation.  Peter is also a Selectman for the Town of Hanover, New Hampshire.

Andrew W. Cunningham, CIC – Chairman

As President and founder, Drew is responsible for the direction and philosophy of the Centurion Insurance Group.  In addition to his thirty two years as an insurance broker, his background as a Human Resources Director of a 2,500 employee group food retailer, Vice President of an aerospace/food conglomerate, and founder of a computer leasing company provides him with unique insight into the needs and exposures of high profile businesses and their executives and employees.  His concentration is on large commercial lines, while serving as a consultant to Centurion’s industrial and institutional clientele.

Drew is a past president of the Hanover Rotary Club, the Montshire Museum’s board of overseers, and the Board of Advisors of Anthem Blue Cross.  Currently, he serves on the Executive Committee of the Friends of the Children’s Hospital at Dartmouth (CHaD), and as a trustee for both the Montshire Museum and New Hampshire Community Technical College Foundation.   Previously a Lieutenant Commander in the United States Navy, he serves as a U.S. Naval Academy Information Officer.

Drew attended Dartmouth College and Wesleyan University in Middletown, Connecticut. His graduate studies encompass finance at UCLA and law at the U.S. Naval School of Justice.  Drew has three daughters and lives in Etna, New Hampshire with his wife.

Gary R. Neil – Secretary

Gary started his career with a fortune 100 Company, then with Wang as an International Marketing Director in Europe and Bermuda.  Twenty years ago Gary and his wife moved to central Vermont with their three sons, and began buying and developing real estate.  He owns and manages several projects including one of Vermont’s largest tourist attractions in Quechee, along with Commercial developments in Windsor and Woodstock, Vermont.

Gary graduated from Penn State with a BS in Business, and served as an officer in the U.S. Army.  He serves on several boards focused on healthcare and tourism, and is active in many community efforts.  He enjoys life with his wife in Quechee, Vermont.

Alfred G. Peterson

Al is a Vermont native with a B.S degree from the University of Vermont, and an M.B.A. from Pepperdine University.  After leaving the US Army as a First Lieutenant, he worked for DuPont and Hoechst chemical companies, founded two marketing companies, and a textile equipment manufacturing firm.

Al is currently the Airport Director at Nantucket Memorial Airport and resides in Nantucket, Massachusetts.  Al is a pilot with many years of varied aviation experience.  He is a member of the American Arbitration Association, and serves on committees for the American Association of Airport Executives, and National Air Transportation Association.  He has extensive knowledge of customer service and is keenly aware of customer expectations.
