New Proposed IRS Cafeteria Regulations – 2007
August, 2007

These regulations replace older proposed regulations and incorporate prior IRS Guidance – regulations that, in some cases, were issued more than 20 years ago. The regulations address cafeteria plans, health FSAs, DCAPs, and other benefits. While many requirements remain substantially the same, there are also numerous changes and clarifications to existing rules.

Updated Dependent Care IRS Regulations

The IRS has recently published a new regulation to better define the deductibility for dependent care services. This is the first revision in about 20 years. Little has changed that will affect administration, since most have been relying on letter rulings. This regulation brings those opinions and rulings together.

BEST ASSIGNS ISSUER CREDIT RATINGS FOR AIG’S INSURANCE SUBS; RATINGS STATUS IS UNDER REVIEW

Following AIG’s announcement that the filing of the 2004 10K will be further delayed, possibly until April 30, 2005, and the disclosure of potential accounting adjustments, A.M. Best commented that the ratings of most of American International Group’s (AIG) wholly-owned insurance subsidiaries remain under review with negative implications.
